selfies commonly misconstrued as forms of vanity. self portraits are reflections of oneself. perhaps they are just mere timestamps in that point and time and space. often times i cannot stand seeing myself on camera. though i will admit, it's quite interesting seeing myself later on. what triggered me into taking a photo of myself in that particular moment? normally we lens different subjects, people, characters. whereas now instead, we are the ones being photographed. a sudden shift. selfies, the very term makes me shudder. but then i think of all the master artists, painters, and photographers who've sketched, painted, or photographed themselves. the ones that came before. the ones we try and replicate. well honestly, it can't be all that bad.
